Blachford HLB is Hiring a Production Operator Near Frankfort, IL

Blachford is a chemical manufacturing company which produces Lubricants for various industries. Our company has been in operation since 1921, and we remain strong in our business because we test and innovate better methods to produce higher quality and efficiency for our customers. All our manufacturing processes are designed to be flexible and versatile with short lead times in mind. We have never been afraid to make big changes if they mean improving our quality of service. This position will report to the Blachford Chemical Group which has a head office in Ontario Canada but will primarily be based in the Illinois office with some travel expected. We are looking for a responsible person with a safety first attitude to join our production team as an Operator. In this role you will need to be physically fit to help move, stack, and lift product bags either onto a skid or add into a mixer. You will be moving product with a fork lift, so a valid licence is an asset, between the warehouse and the production floor for operators. There maybe times where you are help to break apart product to be shoveled into large bins or performing housekeeping activities such as cleaning or vacuuming working areas around the machines. We are looking for a candidate who can be responsible to timely complete work tasks efficiently. A successful candidate will also familiar with safety practices and would report any concerns to the supervisor and is open to sharing new ideas to help improve system processes.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work to effectively and efficiently meet production and quality goals
  • Use machines to grind batches, package, shrink-wrap pallets and move to the warehouse
  • Safely use a forklift to transport product between production and the warehouse
  • Report any equipment/process problems to the Production Supervisor and assist Maintenance in troubleshooting as required
  • Assist in making batches or helping operators in separating product to be loaded into bins or totes
  • Take samples of product to the QA lab for testing
  • Assist with the change over or cleaning of machine equipment
  • Ensure all products have proper labels and are stored properly when not in use
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices such as cleaning floors and other tasks as assigned in the housekeeping schedule.
  • Assist batch makers when directed by supervisors
  • Unload truck loads of empty drums when needed
  • Maintain ISO 9001 standards in the plant and all quality requirements in internal manuals
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Skills

  • High School Diploma / G. E. D. preferred
  • Fort lift licence preferred
  • Knowledge or experience in a manufacturing environment and its processes
  • Ability to work safely without direct supervision and be a collaborative team member
  • Able to read, write, and speak in English
  • Proficient in basic math
  • Capable of operating fork lifts
  • Reliable, energetic and possess good attention to detail
